Thai Embassy plans special programmes for Vesak

The Royal Thai Embassy participates in the “Buddha Rashmi” National Vesak Festival 2023

 

 

The Vesak festival is celebrated on May 05. Vesak is also known as Buddha Jayanthi. For Buddhists around the globe this festival is very significant. Considering the importance of Vesak the Thai Embassy has organised significant events.


The Royal Thai Embassy participates in the “Buddha Rashmi” National Vesak Festival 2023 which is jointly organised by the Presidential Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office and the Gangaramaya Temple and held from May 5-7.
In this event the Thai Embassy has 2 booths at the Exhibition Hall at Temple Trees. The first booth is a photo Exhibition highlighting sacred as well as places of tourist attraction; which show a resemblance and distinctive characteristics of both countries.

 In the Second Booth, the Embassy’s team conducts a quiz competition on Sri Lanka-Thailand Buddhist Diplomacy with the medium being English. The programme has attracted the participation of high school students from 8 schools namely Royal College, Ananda College, Nalanda College, Thurstan College, Visakha College, Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya and Musaeus College. The quiz programme is moderated by Dr. George I. H. Cooke and will be held from May 5-7 between 17:00 hrs and 20:00 hrs. 
The final round of the quiz is set for May 7. The winners will receive cash prizes and all participants will be presented with certificates from the Ambassador of Thailand Poj Harnpol.
