The Kalalaya School to celebrate ‘Navarathiri’

The Kalalaya School of Dance and Music, which was established by the Sri Lanka Tamil Women’s Union on September 1, 1948, will be celebrating ‘Navarathiri’ at the Kalalaya Hall at No. 400/2 Bauddhaloka Mawatha, on October 9 (Wednesday).

New students will be enrolled for Carnatic Music and Bharatha Natyam on ‘Vijayadabami’ on Saturday (October 12) at 10.00 a.m. Those who are interested in learning Carnatic Music and Bharatha Natyam are requested to enroll themselves at the institute. Those interested in enrolling themselves for courses can obtain more information by calling the Principal of Kalalaya (0777 55 7051) or the Vice Principle (0777 88 5434) before October 12. 

The Sri Lanka Tamil Women’s Union founded in 1909, is headed by its new President, Yalini Cooke while Gowri Shankar Somasundaram and Adhirupini Thiyagarajah serve the institute in the capacities of Principal and Vice–Principal respectively.

The event will be graced by the presence of  Shanthi Balasubramaniam as chief guest. DR. SATYANJAL PANDEY, Deputy High Commissioner of India in Colombo, will be the guest of honour.
