Ven. Gnanaratana Thera appointed Chief Sangha Nayake

Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatta Chapter with the consent of the Karaka Sangha Sabha has appointed Ven.Welamitiyawe Gnanaratana Thera, Director and Parivenadipathy of Vidyalankara Maha Piruvena, as Chief Sangha Nayake of Colombo and Chilaw areas with the honourary title of ‘Thripitaka Vagisvaracharya Dharma Keerthi Sri’. The ‘sannasa’ (act of appointment) was presented to him at the historical ‘Uposathagaraya’ of Malwatte Maha Viharaya recently.
