160 kilos of drugs seized

A consignment of illegal drugs including 100 kilos of heroin and 60 kilos of ICE was seized and ten suspects arrested by the Matara Division Crime Investigation Unit yesterday (21) during a raid on a house at Nagoda off Galle.  

Police said the owner of the house among the suspects in custody was a 26 year old young man of the area.  

Investigations revealed that the consignment of drugs had been smuggled by sea and hidden in the house under repair on the previous day.   A senior police official said the suspects would have been part of an international drug trafficking racket.  

Crime Investigations Unit is conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Galle Dilum Tilakaratne and Senior DIG Southern Province.
