A ceremony to commemorate leading labour leader A. E. Gunasinha on May Day was stopped by police owing to Covid-19 health guidelines. However, Colombo Municipal Council’s Deputy Mayor M. T. M Iqbal made the traditional garlanding on the labour leader’s statue at Gunasinhapura together with Ceylon Labour Party Leader Vijitha Kadiragonna to mark the occasion.
