Additional Magistrate recalls arrest warrant issued on Gnanasara Thera

The warrant issued for the arrest of Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven Galabodaattha Gnanasara Thera was recalled by  the Additional Colombo Magistrate.   
The warrant was issued for the arrest of the Thera for failing to appear  before Court for a case filed against him earlier for not being present in court during the last call date in which the Thera and several others were charged for obstructing the duty of Police officers.   

Police Organised Crimes Prevention Division (POCPD) had charged the Thera in Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of obstructing the duties of the police personnel attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and making derogatory statements about other religions at a meeting in Polonnaruwa.   

He was charged under Sections 140,183,186 and 384 of the Penal Code for obstructing PNB officers from performing their duty at Welikada. by threatening the police officers and for spreading hatred among the public and for making hate speeches.   

Attorneys- at- law Sanjaya MarambeIresh Senaviratna and Sanjaya Ariyadasa produced the Thera in Court.,
