UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday charged that the time allocated for the opposition parties other than the SJB during the debate on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been reduced.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said it was agreed to allocate two and a half hours for the opposition parties other than SJB, but it has been later reduced. “I heard that TNA MP was allocated only 15 minutes while the Janatha Jana Balawegaya MP Anura Dissanayake has not been given the promised 20 minutes,” Mr. Wickremesinghe said.
“It was I who first proposed an adjournment debate on the president’s address. However, I agreed to allow another MP to move the debate. Then I requested I will be given the first speech today but that was not given. I will speak later, but I will continue for 30 minutes unless I am removed from the chambers,” he added.
