The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has instructed the Department of Examinations to submit a progress report on its internal investigation on the alleged leaking of the Grade 5 scholarship examination paper, within a week.
Issuing a statement, the HRCSL said that it conducted an inquiry following a complaint regarding the alleged leaking of the Grade 5 scholarship examination paper. The inquiry was chaired by the HRCSL Commissioner, N.G. Punchihewa, and included participation from officials of the Ministry of Education, the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Examinations, representatives from parents, and an attorney-at-law.
During the inquiry, the commissioner directed the Department of Examinations to promptly address the issue, emphasizing the urgency of resolving it in light of its impact on students’ mental well-being and future prospects.
Additionally, all involved parties were asked to provide relevant documents to both the HRCSL and the Department of Examinations. The HRCSL intends to hold a further inquiry including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the following week to review the findings of the investigation, it added
