Aragalaya activists together with few leftist political parties including Front Line Socialist Party, New Democratic Marxist - Leninist Party and Socialist People’s Forum announced yesterday that they have decided to launch a political alliance named ‘People’s Struggle Alliance’ with the view of contesting for the presidential and general elections. Aragalaya activist Wasantha Mudalige made this announcement at a media briefing yesterday.

“The people’s struggle in 2022 created a landmark in Sri Lankan history by making the former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to leave office. However, it was not able to bring about reforms it intended to bring. Therefore, there is more to be achieved.

The alliance is yet to decide on its candidate for the presidential election. The alliance is to be registered later after final decision is made on the symbol.
