Assault on doctor

They had accused the doctor of negligence which resulted in the death of a patient

The Badulla police arrested three suspects in connection with an alleged assault on a doctor of the Badulla general hospital. They were produced before Badulla Actg. Magistrate Heminda Dayawansa and remanded till June 08.   
Police said the three men had entered the hospital by force last Friday(03) and assaulted Dr. Chamara Udayanga accusing the doctor of negligence which resulted in the death of a patient. Dr. Udayanga is at present under treatment in the hospital.   

Investigations revealed that two of the suspects were the deceased’s sons and the other his grandson.   
Meanwhile the actg. magistrate visitted the hospital and held the preliminary magisterial inquiry into the death of the patient.   

JMO Badulla general hospital Dr. W.M.K.B Wijetunga who performed the postmortem examination reported that the death was due to pneumonia.
