Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said he strongly believed that at least one hospital  dedicated for children should be available in each province.

The Prime Minister expressed his views at an event held at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Borella to declare open two  theatres for surgeries.
Mr.Rajapaksa said there were only two hospitals dedicated for children in Sri Lanka at the moment; one in Colombo and the another in Kandy.

“I strongly believe that there should be at least one hospital for children in each province. Children’s health and well-being should be given priority as they are the ones who should take the reins of the country in the future,” he said.

He said children should be kept safe at all times and added that the government will always pay special attention to them.  Meanwhile, he said there  was a proposal to provide a glass of herbal drink to schoolchildren and that it would be brought to the attention of the Education Minister.
