Badulla bound Podi Menike Express derails

The Colombo-bound Podi Menike Express train from Badulla last morning derailed near Badulla railway station causing obstructions to the train service on the main line.

   
A senior official of the Badulla railway station said the engine and three passenger compartments had derailed and that the railway line had been damaged.   

He said a team of workers was sent to the location to re-rail the train and to attend to the repairs of the railway line. 

The official said all trains from Badulla to Colombo and Kandy were subject to delay.
