The Magistrate made this direction to the CID during the inquiry into cheating of two businessmen for Rs.170 million by promising to sell 25 kilos of gold alleged to have been kept in the vaults of AB Securitas and Certis Lanka Security Companies by Santhy Kanagasingham of No 34. Anula Road Colombo 6.
Counsel M.M. Zuhair appearing with Jayantha Dias Nanyakkara for the two businessmen David Pradeepan Saundranayagam and Rajendram Jacob told Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake that the suspect had hoodwinked the two businessmen for Rs. 170 million by promising to sell 25 kilos of gold.
The Counsel contended that the CID had failed to carry out orders of the Magistrate made on 20.11.2019 and 26.02.2020 to complete several outstanding matters.
