COVID-19 not communicable through blood transfusion DG of National Blood Bank allays fears

COVID-19 is not communicable through blood and that the blood donated by the people will not create any health hazard, Director General of the National Blood Bank Dr. Laxman Edirisinghe said.   


He told the media that one would not contract the CORONA virus through transfusion of blood. He pointed out that it  was transmitted only through contacts and not through blood. He explained on safety measures adopted by them to obtain blood without exposing to the danger of contracting the virus.
