A suspected COVID-19 positive patient who had fled from the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital on Monday (6) was arrested by Kekirawa Police.
Police said he was arrested on information provided by his family members. The 26-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a series of robberies in Kekirawa area who had stolen a motorcycle belonging to an individual in Kekirawa area was fleeing to Anuradhapura when he met with an accident at Maradankadawala and was injured.
The doctors examined him to find that he had developed symptoms similar to those of Coronavirus in addition to his injuries and was admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for further medical examination.
Although the medical tests in the Anuradhapura Hospital confirmed he was COVID-19 negative, he was to be produced before Kekirawa Magistrate’s Courts yesterday on charges of theft and fleeing from the hospital.
