Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella yesterday cautioned against the use of vaccines against COVID-19 without subjecting it into an extensive testing process to avoid complications.

Mr. Kiriella told Parliament that many people in Brazil had died after they were injected with vaccines, still at experimental level.   “I remember a large number of children were born to parents who were injected with birth control vaccines over a period of time. Therefore, the vaccine should be given only after proper trials. The accepted practice is that a vaccine has to be experimented for years to determine its effectiveness,” Mr. Kiriella said.
