A carpentry village was established at Willorawatta in Moratuwa with the participation of 75 small scale carpenters who were provided with tools and equipment valued at Rs.10 million as an initiative.
Moratuwa Divisional Secretary Ishanka Udawatta said the project was implemented to mark the Saubhagya-Samurdhi week by the Samurdhi, Self Employment and Enterprise Development Ministry. She said the main object of the project was to uplift carpenters to bring them on par with the international market.
Chairman of the District Development Committee Pradeep Undugoda, Mayor of Moratuwa Samanlal Fernando, Chairman of the Divisional Coordinating Committee Premanath Dolawatta and District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne were present at the occasion.
The project was implemented to mark the Saubhagya-Samurdhi week
