The Catholic Expression Organisation that had lodged a complaint against former President Maithripala Sirisena with the CID does not belong to the Catholic Church, a spokesman for the Archdiocese of Colombo said yesterday.
Head of the Media and Social Relations Unit of the Colombo Archdiocese Rev.Fr. Jude Chrishantha told Daily Mirror that the Catholic Expression Organisation did not belong to the Catholic Church and had no connection whatsoever to the said organisation and its actions. “ The Church has no connection to this organisation,” Fr. Chrishantha said.
It was reported earlier that the Catholic Expression Organisation had charged that former President Maithripala Sirisena was responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks and had lodged a complaint with the CID against Mr. Sirisena.
Chirantha R. Amarasinghe who is claimed to be the President of Catholic Expression Organisation recently issued a statement stating that his organisation had lodged a complaint against former President Maithripala Sirisena with the CID and had called for a probe as they were of the view that Mr. Sirisena was fully responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks that occurred last year.
