Chandra Nimal Wakishta to contest for post of President ACBC

Mr. Chandra Nimal Wakishta is a distinguished retired government officer who joined the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress (ACBC) over 40 years ago as a young leader, through the All Ceylon Buddhist Students’ Federation Branch of Richmond College, Galle. He has fulfilled his religious  responsibilities in  protecting the  Buddha Sasana and Buddhist heritage.  


As the Deputy President and Vice President of the Buddhist Congress, he has served as the head of cultural and religious, social services, child protection, investigation and development national councils, in the Working  Committee for over twenty years, performing a valuable service


He was the Director of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in combating terrorism, during the period of the 30-year civil war in Sri Lanka, performing a yeomen service as a Deputy Inspector General of Police.  He is currently serving in the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption in Sri Lanka.
