Child Protection Alliance, an organisation dedicated to protecting children in Sri Lanka which had lodged a complaint against a Facebook account that had carried pictures of small girls, with the Child Protection Authority had urged the latter to reveal to the nation the name of the owner of this Facebook account and to suspend the account.
Joint Conveners of the Child Protection Alliance Pranitha Waranakulasuriya, Kaushal Ranasinghe and Dr. Tush Wickramanayake in a letter addressed to Child Protection Authority had informed the latter that the Facebook account which had carried photographs of small girls is engaged in a commercial operation.

“A Lawyer had advised the owner of the Facebook account to block people from sharing photos on social media,” the Child Protection Alliance joint conveners said. “We are amazed at the failure on the part of Child Protection Authority to take action against the owner of this Facebook account,” they also said.
