China to assist SL’s strategic capabilities to combat int’l terrorism

Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, who met President Maithripala Sirisena, has said that China would soon take steps to assist Sri Lanka’s strategic capabilities to combat international terrorism.   The two leaders met in Beijing, China on Wednesday and discussed the details of agreements reached during the talks between the two Presidents.   


In a statement, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said the Chinese Premier expressed condolences regarding the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka.   

 

 

Chinese aid will be used to control the abuse of the Internet and social media for propagation of terrorist activities


“China assured every possible support to Sri Lanka for fighting against terrorism. As the presidents have agreed, Chinese aid will be used to control the abuse of the Internet and social media for propagation of terrorist activities,” it said.   


At the meeting, President Sirisena thanked China for grants Rs. 2,600 million to boost Sri Lanka’s defence and providing facilities to the Police Department.   The President said that the friendly countries of Sri Lanka are working together to build Sri Lanka as a free and prosperous country.   


The two countries discussed economic and development issues related to both countries.   


The Chinese Premier said that Sri Lanka’s high quality products have a great demand in China and there is a possibility to create a good market for such products.
