Circular to eliminate teacher-principal salary anomalies issued

A circular regarding the elimination of teacher-principal salary anomalies has been issued by the Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry.


 The circular was issued in accordance with the decisions taken at the Cabinet meetings held on August 30 last year and January 3 this year by the signature of Local Government Secretary J.J. Rathnasiri yesterday.
 The circular has been issued with effect from January 1 this year and has been approved by the National Salaries and Remuneration Commission and the Finance Ministry.  Accordingly, the salary anomalies of the Sri Lanka Principal Service, Teacher Advisory Service, and Teachers’ Service will be amended.


 The Ministry has taken steps to grant permanent appointments as development officers to the graduates who will be recruited as trainees in the year 2020.


 51,682 graduates will be given permanent appointments, including those who have completed one year of their training, who will be given permanent appointments on January 3, this year.


 Graduates who have not completed one year of training will be given permanent appointments with effect from April 1.
