Colombo District candidate can spend Rs 5.75 million for General Election

The Election Commission yesterday (17) announced the maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates, parties, independent groups and national list candidates ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary election slated for November 14.   

The maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates, parties, independent groups and national list candidates vary depending on the districts.   

Accordingly, the maximum expenditure limits allowed for candidates in the Colombo District (highest) is Rs. 5,750,000 while for parties it is Rs. 79,493,756 and for national list candidates Rs. 34,694   

Further, maximum expenditure limit allowed for candidates (lowest) in Vanni District is Rs. 1,673,243, for parties Rs. 9,91,3,964 and for national list candidates Rs. 4,327.   
Meanwhile, the Commission urged all candidates to submit their expenditure reports within 21 days of the election results being released.
