The children who were admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital following complications from a medicinal tablet have been reported to be in stable condition, with some already discharged, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said.   Though initial reports suggest that complications were caused due to a vaccine, health authorities confirmed that the minor complications were caused after administering two drugs.

The health officials suspect that side effects could have been caused due to Prednisolone and Domperidone.     Dr. Gunawardena said the particular drugs have been withheld.    The affected children, aged between five and nine are residents of the Mihintale area. They initially sought medical attention from the Mihintale Hospital for cold.    The North Central Provincial Health Director has initiated an inquiry into the incident.
