A COVID-19 infected person from Atulugama, Bandaragama has spat on the face of a PHI who attempted to transfer the patient for medical treatment, Police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said when the area PHI had visited the inmate in order to transfer him to a treatment centre, he had refused to co-operate.
At that time, the man had spat on the face of the PHI. The police has initiated an investigation into this incident. The charges against the person would be obstructing duties of a government officer

He said police will take stern action against such individuals. “If a person refuses treatment or PCR test, that particular person would be considered as a traitor. Therefore, Police will take stern action against such persons, “ he said.
