Wildlife Conservators found two bear cubs deserted at Thoduwakanda in the Maduruoya National Park. The cubs were later handed over to Central Province Veterinary Unit of the Wildlife Conservation Department when their efforts to trace the whereabouts of the mother bear for two days, failed . A Senior Wildlife Conservator said that the mother bear would have been killed by poachers who were frequenting the National Park. Veterinary Surgeon of the Central Province Wildlife Zone Dr. P.M.Akalanka said the two cubs were out of danger and that they would recover soon.
