Doctor and three others interdicted

A doctor, two nurses and a family health officer have been interdicted during investigations of the death of a woman who died of bleeding after delivery.   

The victim Mariyaraj Sindujah (27) of Murunthan in Mannar had been admitted to Murunthan hospital for delivery after which she had developed profuse bleeding.  

She had been transferred in critical condition to the Mannar general hospital where She died.   

Ministry of Health that investigated her mother’s complaint to the relevant authorities including the President, that her daughter’s death was due to the negligence of the doctor in charge of the ward and the staff interdicted the doctor, two nurses and a family health officer.   

Meanwhile several international human rights organizations have requested for a formal investigation of the incident.
