A doctor attached to the Medical Centre in Parliament has been tested negative much to the relief of many, Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando said yesterday.

This doctor was one of the few persons who were subjected to PCR tests, after a police officer attached to the Parliamentary complex was tested positive a few days ago. “We have subjected two more members of the staff to PCR tests and their results are yet to come. Others will be made to go through the PCR tests if those who have already been tested are found positive,” he said.

It is learnt that around seven members of Parliament had consulted this doctor who was on duty last week.
It was also reported that health authorities have advised the Secretary General of Parliament to subject the entire staff of Parliament to PCR testing.
