The attempt of a government doctor to illegally occupy a state land about one acre in extent in Palankudawa area yesterday regardless of the travel restrictions in force under the quarantine regulations was prevented by Kalpitiya Divisional Secretary D.A.P. Danansuriya.

The Divisional Secretary and the Grama Niladhari of the area visited the site on information from the public that an individual was fencing a state land.

The doctor produced a title deed to establish his possession of the land which he had purchased from another individual. However the Divisional Secretary examined the deed to find it a forged document. He explained to the doctor that the land was a state property and that he must immediately remove all unauthorized erections and leave the site.

The Divisional Secretary informed the doctor that legal action would be taken against him under the Land Acquisition Ordinance for illegally occupying a state land, if he attempted to carry out any erections.
