On 07-03-2021 Minister of Public Security retired Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara said that all  investigations which required to be carried out by the Police regarding the Easter Sunday attacks have been completed and 32 persons will be prosecuted under homicide and conspiracy and 242 others will be prosecuted for their indirect involvement in the incident soon.

He made this comment addressing the conference held at Rabindranath Tagore Memorial hall in Ruhuna University to inform Southern Province committee presidents of the Public Security Committee Project operated with the aim of building a society to live without fear or suspicion.

He also said that the Yahapalana government is attempting to accuse the present government of the Easter Attack whereas the drawbacks in the Yahapalana government had led to the attack.

Public security is the spine of a country and the Intelligence is the spine of public security. The attack took place due to the Yahapalana governments move which  paralyzed the intelligence network, he added.

Only army camps have facilities to give military training to a large group of young people. when entering an army camp there is a discipline to be followed. We are aware of laws and punishments when we break them. but is the youth aware of those laws?

Quoted files related to the eight bombing incidents of the Easter attack were sent to the Attorney General and the returned ones due to mistakes were also resent after corrections. These activities delayed until the Presidential Commission report arrived. Now that the report has been issued, a committee consisting 12 lawyers has been appointed by the AG and the responsible parties will be dealt with according to law in the coming days, he furthermore said.

He also said that in order to build discipline in the country and to reduce crimes, the youth should be given military training before 18.

‘Lack of discipline has caused to increase crimes and vehicle accidents. If there is no training, there is no discipline. That is why I suggested a military training to be given to youth aged below 18. My suggestion got criticized a lot. I suggested so as a senior officer and a senior citizen. If we can implement discipline, we can create a society with discipline which has less crimes. Only army camps have facilities to give military training to a large group of young people. when entering an army camp there is a discipline to be followed. We are aware of laws and punishments when we break them. but is the youth aware of those laws? We can make them aware of robberies, drug mafia, and cybercrimes. We can also create national feelings in them by giving them knowledge on natural resources and thereby aiding them to be patriotic. They will never engage in crimes after that and we can develop this country.

Public Security Committee presidents were given identity cards and SIM cards.
