Chairman of the PCoI yesterday ordered the Commission’s Secretary to take legal action through the Court of Appeal against the senior official of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) and the Counsel who represented the particular individual who was nabbed while recording evidence being led at the PCoI probing the Easter Sunday attacks.
The BAR association’s disciplinary committee was also directed by the Chairman to conduct a disciplinary inquiry against the counsel who represented the senior official of ACJU. Security officers attached to the PCoI probing Easter Sunday attacks on Wednesday (9) questioned an individual who had reportedly used his mobile phone to record evidence being led at the Commission.
When the suspect individual said to be a Moulavi representing the ACJU was questioned by the security officers inside the PCoI he had admitted having recorded evidence with a mobile phone which he had taken into the PCoI with the support of a lawyer who had come on behalf of one of those organisations.
The incident is said to have taken place during cross-examination of Bodu Bala Sena’s (BBS) General Secretary Galagodaththe Gnanasara Thero at the Commission.
Legal representatives of several organisations, including the Jamia Nalimiya Islamic Education Institute and the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama Organisation, had been given the opportunity to cross-examine the Thero.
