Complaints on election law violations and election-related violence has increased to 3,627, the Election Commission said quoting the District Elections Complaint Management Centre.  It said 27 complaints were of election-related violence while 3,494 complaints were of election-law violations.

The EC has set up centres at the Election Secretariat in Rajagiriya and at all district offices to accept complaints.  “These complaint centres have been set up in collaboration with the Police while new laws will be promulgated to prevent issues that happen routinely during elections,” an EC official said.
