Exam paper committee member arrested over Grade 5 exam paper leak

The Director of the Planning Division at the National  Institute of Education (NIE) in Maharagama has been arrested by the  Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the recent  leak of the Grade 5 Scholarship examination paper.   

The CID is investigating into the leakage of several  questions of the first paper of the 2024 Grade 5 Scholarship  examination, which took place on September 15.   

Police said that a complaint from the Examinations  Department revealed that three questions from this paper were included  in a model question paper by a tutor, who disseminated them via WhatsApp  the day before the exam.  

Accordingly, the CID arrested the 57-year-old resident of  Tittawella, Kurunegala, who is a member of the question paper-making  committee, for allegedly leaking confidential information.
