Expressway bus operator fined for running sans permit

A private bus operator who transported passengers from Badalkumbura to Colombo on the southern expressway without a route permit was fined Rs.50,000 by the Homagama Addl.District Judge Nilupuli Lankapura last week.   Officials of the Road Passenger Transport Authority and the Makumbura Multimodal Center including OIC Torman Laxman and Asst. Manager E.D.Chaturanga had questioned the driver to find that he had been transporting passengers without a valid route permit on the expressway.   Inspector of the Transport Commission D.N. Wettasinghe made submissions for the state while Attorney-at-Law Roshan Kuruppuarachchi appeared for the suspect.
