The Finance Ministry yesterday said a circular had been issued to leasing and finance companies to grant two months installments relief for private bus owners. The decision was taken by the Ministry after several requests made by the private bus operators a few weeks back.

The private bus operators placed a demand that they would refrain from operating private bus services from June 5 midnight, if the Finance Ministry did not take measures to reverse their finance or leasing facilities to at least three months.

However, the Finance Ministry had issued circulars to Finance and Leasing companies to grant a two-month (April and May) grace period.

After the Easter Sunday terror attack, the bus owners income had seriously declined, and as the result, they have been finding it difficult to settle their dues to leasing and finance institutions.
