Fishermen arrested with heroin in Negombo

A group of three fishermen transporting a stock of heroin from Mutwal to Negombo by sea were arrested by the Dungalpitiya police during a raid carried out in the Negombo lagoon. The suspects had been transporting heroin by sea, to avoid being checked by the police during curfew hours.  

Investigations revealed that the suspects had been using a stolen boat to carry on with the transporting of contraband. During the raid the police had arrested the 3 suspects and seized the boat. Police said the trade value of the stock of 12.64grms of heroin was valued at Rs.300,000.
