Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman yesterday questioned as why Sri Lankan security forces and police are providing security to Israeli establishments in Colombo and elsewhere.
“Israeli establishments such as places of worship do exist in Colombo and elsewhere. Sri Lankan security forces and police are providing security to these establishments. There are large number Israelis living in Arugam Bay. Some have come to Sri Lanka through tourist visas. The new government should make a note of all these developments and should not allow another country to use Sri Lanka for their benefit,” the former MP said.

He said Sri Lanka should keep its foreign policy intact.“Many countries including Sri Lanka itself have stood for freedom of Palestine. Also the world is sharply divided on the Middle Eastern issue. Some countries such as Iran and Russia are backing Palestine while countries such as USA is backing Israel. This is a situation which the Sri Lankan government should take into consideration as the Middle Eastern issue is going towards dangerous proportions,” he said.
“Sri Lanka should establish and maintain a nonaligned foreign policy as it has always been. The new government should make a note of this,” he also said.
Further he said the government should not allow the Middle East issue to affect Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
