Stocks of fuel had disappeared from the government storages even before the energy and fuel crisis came into being in 2022, Chairman of Sectorial Committee on Transportation and Energy MP Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda told Parliament yesterday.    The MP said it is not possible to find data on the stocks of fuel that have disappeared.

“The data system of the fuel storages have been deleted as soon as the energy crisis emerged in 2022,” he added. He came out with this disclosure while tabling few reports including that of Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Ltd (CPSTL).

CPSTL on Monday reported that more than 16,000 liters had been illegally sold.

From a bowser which had 33,000 liters of furnace oil.
