Presidential commission to investigate past corruption

The necessary arrangements to order fuel for Sri Lanka up to April next year have already been completed, Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Limited, D. J. Rajakaruna said yesterday.

He announced this during a media briefing yesterday, highlighting that fuel import planning is well ahead to meet the country’s needs.

Rajakaruna also addressed the recent fuel price reductions, clarifying that the fuel being sold at reduced rates were imported under the previous government.

He emphasized that the price revision was a decision made by the President in his official capacity, rather than as a candidate of the National People’s Power party.

Furthermore, Rajakaruna revealed that a presidential commission will be established to investigate allegations of fraud and corruption under previous administrations. The commission will also scrutinize any malpractices within the Petroleum Corporation, ensuring transparency and accountability in the sector’s operations.
