The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB) yesterday warned Sri Lankans seeking jobs in Poland and advised them to refrain from paying foreign job agents before receiving the employment contract and the visa issued by the employer.
The warning came in response to a string of public complaints over bogus foreign job agencies that have charged exorbitant amounts of money from job seekers and ultimately failed to provide the promised jobs.
The Bureau has been alerted regarding the illegal practice of bogus job agencies that advertise largely on Sri Lankan newspapers for Polish jobs. It said although the bureau approves the placement of job advertisements in newspapers, it is illegal to charge money from job seekers without producing visa and employment agreement.
Following hotline numbers are available for the public to inquire from the bureau regarding any foreign employment concerns. 011-2879901 / 011-2879903 / 011-2118700 / 011-2880500
