‘Guru Gedara’ TV channel for students from Monday

The Ministry of Education will launch ‘Guru Gedara’ A television channel on April 20 to provide a boost to the education process of school children who have been deprived from attending school in the country, the Education Ministry said.   


The channel would be launched on a concept of the Minister of Education  Dullas Alahapperuma and with the support of the  Minister of Higher Education Bandula Gunawardane.   


The channel would be launched with the media contribution of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).   
With the official launch of the channel on Monday (20), children would be able to keep in touch with their educational syllabi from 8.00am to 7.00pm and from 10.00pm to 12.00 midnight.   
Following the launching ceremony, educational programmes will be broadcast at 4.00pm daily commencing from Tuesday (21), the Education Ministry said.   


With the broadcasting of this educational channel, school subjects under the Advanced Level (A/L) Arts stream, Commerce, Science and Information and Telecommunication Technology will be telecast.   
Accordingly, Sinhala and Tamil languages, Geography, Political Science, Buddhist Culture under the A/L Arts stream-Accounts, Business Studies, Economic Science under the A/L Commerce stream - Combined Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology under the A/L Science stream - Science, Engineering Technology, Bio Systems Technology under the Technology stream- Agriculture, Information and Telecommunication Technology subjects will also be covered.   


The new channel will also be scheduled to broadcast programmes relating to Ordinary Level 
(O/L) students.
