Haggala road mishap claims lives of three women

Three women were killed and a man was injured when a lorry rammed  a three wheeler at Haggala in Nuwara Eliya yesterday afternoon.  

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the three- wheeler was proceeding towards Welimada and the lorry too was heading towards the same direction when it crashed on to the trishaw from the rear due to the negligence of the lorry driver.  

The driver of the three- wheeler was admitted to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital.  

DIG Rohana said the driver of the lorry had fled the scene after the accident, but the police arrested the helper of the lorry.  

He said a special Police team had been deployed to apprehend the lorry driver.  

The deceased women were aged between 20 and 52 years.
