A man, who was staying with a woman in a hotel at Kurundugahathenna is reported to have died on Thursday morning.
During their investigations the Elpitiya Police found the man to be a 47-year-old driver working in an estate at Omatta in Elpitiya.
They said the man had visited the hotel accompanied by a woman after the curfew was lifted on Thursday morning and had booked a room there.
A little while later the woman was heard shouting out that the man was sick and requested the hotel owner to rush him to hospital. By the time the hotel owner had informed the police and rushed to scene, he found the guest already dead. Meanwhile, the woman had gone missing.
The Inquirer into sudden deaths after the preliminary investigations had directed the police to refer the body to Elpitiya Hospital JMO for the postmortem examination.
A police team under Elpitiya Police OIC Chief Inspector Dahanayake is conducting investigations to trace the missing woman.
