INTERNational Conference of University Librarians Association 2021

University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka held its annual International Conference virtually, on 22nd September 2021. The theme of the conference was “Scholarly publishing and open access for the enhancement of research visibility”.   


The objective of the conference was to provide a platform for the intellectuals in the field of Library & Information Sciences to debate, discuss, and share knowledge on current trends, issues and solutions related to scholarly publishing and open access for the enhancement of research visibility.   


The Conference Chair Dr. Chammika Mallawaarachchi, President University Librarians Association emphasized, that university libraries contributed a lot to boost research productivity of the individual researchers, institutions and as whole of the entire nation’s. Scholarly publishing  was a means of exchanging research information among scientific communities.   


Major General Milinda Pieris, the Vice-Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University graced the occasion by participating as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Barbara Lison, President of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, Jeevan Thiagarajah, Chairman, Centre for Humanitarian Affairs, and Dr. (Mrs.) Pradeepa Wijetunge, Director, National Institute for Library & Information Science, University of Colombo delivered the keynote addresses.
