Complaints have been lodged against a foreign employment agency located in Thunmulla, in Colombo which had allegedly obtained Rs. 200 million from 141 job seekers promising them overseas employment.
The job seekers said the agency had charged fees ranging from Rs 1.5 million to
Rs 2 million from each of them.
They also said some who had been sent abroad had been stranded in Indonesia and that they had to come back by spending their own money on air tickets.
The agency had been closed down and had reopened in Nugegoda under a different name.
Complaints have been lodged with the Police by job seekers who had been taken for a ride by the agency.
