The Acting OIC of Kalpitiya Police has been summoned to appear before the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission in Colombo for an inquiry on October 25, in connection with a complaint against him for violating the fundamental rights of two women.
The petition was filed by W. Krishan Mayura Rodrigo, a resident of Kalpitiya, who claimed that his wife (29) and sister (33) were assaulted when they visited the police station to file a complaint. He further alleged that they were falsely implicated in a fabricated charge of possessing the illegal intoxicant methamphetamine (ICE), and legal action was taken against them.
The petitioner stated that both women are mothers, and they are in a difficult situation due to the police actions.
