Kandy Esala Perahera to commence on Aug. 5

The Kandy Esala Perahera is scheduled to commence on August 5 and end on August 21.   
Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Pradeep Nilanga Dela told a meeting at Sri Dalada Maligawa on Wednesday (25) that the Kap planting ceremony at the Four Devalas and the inner procession would be held in the early hours of August 5. The first Kumbal procession would parade the streets on August 10 and the first Randoli procession on August 15.   
The main Randoli procession would be held on Esala full moon Poya day on August 20, followed by the Day procession on August 21.
