Leakage of Grade 5 exam paper; decision after CID probe

A decision on leakage of the first paper of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will be made soon, following investigations by the Examinations Department and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Education Ministry said. In a special notice issued yesterday, they confirmed that an investigation was launched into the leak of the examination paper. The Grade 5 Scholarship Examination was held last Sunday (15). Preliminary investigations conducted by the North Central Provincial Education Department revealed that the assistant invigilator had shared the photos of the first question paper of the examination among a social media group with private class teachers before the examination began. Nearly 100 parents had lodged complaints with the Anuradhapura police headquarters over the leakage of the first question paper of the Grade 5 examination. In their police complaints, the parents had requested that the examination be held again.
