Main suspect in murder of SLFP organizer Sampath Gamage arrested

• Clubbed to death at his house in Panagoda in Homagama

The main suspect wanted in connection with the murder of former SLFP Organizer for Hiniduma Electorate and businessman Sampath Gamage was arrested last morning at Weddagala in Kalawana by Athurugiriya Police. Police said the suspect was a businessman from Welipillewa in Dedigamuwa. Investigations revealed of a previous animosity with the deceased. The businessman had been clubbed to death at his house in Panagoda in Homagama. Athurugiriya Police that conducted investigations on information received by the Crime Investigations Branch had arrested the suspect. He was to be produced before the Homagama magistrate yesterday. A police team under OIC Crime Investigation Branch IP Asanka Premalal is conducting further investigations on the instructions of OIC Athurugiriya Police CI Saradha Fernando.
