Mahanayake of Malwatte Chapter Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera said the National People’s Power (NPP) has received an unprecedented mandate and that they should deliver the goods as expected by the people.

During a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation K. D. Lalkantha yesterday at the Malwatte temple, the Ven. Mahanayake Thera pointed out that the people voted the NPP into power through landslide victory after well understanding the happenings in the past.

“People voted you into power in the hope of resolving the issues affecting them, It is your responsibility to fulfill their aspirations with dedication. The Agricultural sector has been seriously affected by crop devastation caused by wild animals. Wild elephants and other beasts cause havoc destroying cultivated land. This is a major issue that should be given priority” the Ven. Mahanayake Thera said.

Minister Vijitha Herath pointed out that the blessings of the Mahasangha gave strength to the NPP’s victory. The mandate given by the people was more than expected and that the Sri Lankan expatriates were also responsible for it.

Later they met the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera as well.

Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Prof. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi was also present at the occasion.
